We’ve set up a Community Interest Company and we’re looking for people who can help us get things going. Ideally, we could do with two or three people who could be on the board, but also people who might just help get the word out or volunteer to help on the day. This need not involve a lot of work given that we are aiming for one event a year. If you’re interested, please get in touch!
The costs of the festival itself are not huge but the community groups who were a really vital and exciting part of the festival last year need money to help them provide the food and, in some cases, to travel to Dumfries. We also want to put together training to help more community groups and enterprises take part. For this year at least we’re looking for grants and/or sponsors to cover the costs.
We want to reach out to local groups and enterprises who might be interested in taking part. The groups don’t need to be currently engaged in food production but, if they represent any minority culture within our community and might be interested in being involved, we would look to sponsor training and find facilities they might use.
Please let email jrubinstein@pobox.com if you’re interested in getting involved and feel free to pass this on to anyone else you think might like to help. Any suggestions for grants or sponsors we can approach would also be really welcome.
